For pattern designers

You write the patterns. Rowlight helps people follow them.

An app you can recommend without wondering where your work ends up. Here’s what we promise, in writing, and an invitation to help shape what comes next.

What we promise

  1. No hosting. Rowlight has no pattern library, marketplace or server. A pattern exists in Rowlight only because someone imported their own copy, and it lives on their devices and in their private iCloud.
  2. No sharing. There's no way to send a pattern to another person: no share button, no public profiles, no community feed. Backups restore a person's own projects, and our terms forbid using them to redistribute patterns.
  3. No cloud AI. Your pattern is never uploaded to an AI service, used to train anything, or rewritten by a model. Any text reading Rowlight does, such as finding row numbers, runs on the device.
  4. No scraping. We don't crawl shops, blogs or pattern sites, and we don't pull patterns from links. If Rowlight ever adds web clipping, it will be read-only, keep the source address, and respect your page.
  5. Credit and a link on every project. Every project has a designer name and a shop link, prompted at import and shown at the top of the project page. Links open in the browser exactly as entered. We never strip or replace affiliate or tracking parameters.

Takedowns and concerns

If you believe Rowlight is being used to infringe your work, or a store listing, screenshot or post of ours features your pattern without permission, email support@rowlight.app with the subject "Designer request". We'll reply within two working days.

We can't see or remove files in someone's private iCloud, because we have no access to it. We will:

  • remove anything of ours that features your work
  • strengthen the app if a feature is being misused
  • point you to the right Apple reporting channel when that's the better route

The companion-ready program (coming later)

We're inviting designers to help shape companion-ready patterns: a small, optional "sidecar" you add to your own PDF. It could be a QR code on the last page or a tiny file listing your sections, repeats and reminders. Rowlight reads it on the device and sets up the counters for the knitter or crocheter automatically.

  • Your PDF stays in your shop. You sell it exactly as you do now. Rowlight never hosts it.
  • The sidecar holds structure only (for example "Rows 3–10, repeat 3 times"), never your pattern text.
  • Participating designers will get a "Companion-ready" mark they can use, a listing on rowlight.app, and free Pro codes for testers and crochet- or knit-alongs.

Interested, or want to tell us what would make this useful? Email support@rowlight.app with the subject "Companion-ready". Early feedback from designers decides the format.

Try it with a pattern we wrote

Rowlight ships with the Hearth Dishcloth, a free crochet and knit pattern written by Rowlight. It's our own work, so the sample doesn't depend on anyone else's.
