These terms cover your use of the Rowlight app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and the rowlight.app website. Rowlight is made by Rowlight, a small independent software studio in Virginia, USA ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Rowlight you agree to these terms.
1. Apple's Standard EULA governs the app
Rowlight is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
The Standard EULA is the license agreement between you and us for the app. It covers your license, our warranty disclaimer, our limits of liability, and governing law. The sections below add Rowlight-specific terms. If anything here conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA wins.
Apple is not responsible for Rowlight or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Standard EULA.
2. Your patterns are yours, and the designer's
Rowlight is a tool for following patterns you already own. It doesn't sell, host or supply patterns, except for the free Rowlight-made sample pattern.
- Only import patterns you have the right to use: patterns you bought, free patterns you downloaded, or your own designs.
- Respect each designer's license. Most patterns allow personal use only.
- Don't use Rowlight to redistribute patterns. Rowlight has no feature for sending patterns to other people. Backup files (
.rowlight) are for restoring your own projects; don't use them to give or sell someone else's pattern to anyone. - Keep the designer's credit and link on your projects. Rowlight shows them by design.
We never claim ownership of what you import or create. Your files stay on your devices and in your private iCloud (see the Privacy Policy).
3. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Use Rowlight to infringe copyrights or other rights, including stripping designer credits to pass off someone else's pattern as your own.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape or bulk-extract pattern content through the app, or build a service that does.
- Interfere with the app, its purchase system, or other people's use of it.
- Use the app in a way that breaks the law or the App Store Terms of Service.
4. Rowlight Pro, subscriptions and purchases
Rowlight is free to download. The free version includes 2 active projects, full counters, iCloud sync and export. Rowlight Pro adds:
- unlimited active projects
- the Apple Watch app
- the Live Activity (lock screen and Dynamic Island)
- Apple Pencil markup
- repeat automation and reminders
Pro is available as:
- Annual subscription: $14.99 (US) per year, with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase of $39.99 (US). A founder price of $24.99 may be offered during the first 30 days after launch.
Prices vary by country and are always shown in the App Store before you buy.
Apple handles all purchases.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. For a trial, you're charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- A subscription renews automatically each year unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Restore Purchases is in Rowlight's Settings and on the Pro screen.
- Family Sharing is supported, so eligible family members can use Pro.
5. Your data and backups
Rowlight stores your data on your devices and in your private iCloud. We have no copy of it and can't restore it for you. iCloud sync depends on Apple's service and your iCloud settings and storage.
Please export a .rowlight backup of any project you can't afford to lose. Rowlight is built not to lose a single count. Even so, to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for lost data (see the Standard EULA).
6. The sample pattern
The bundled Rowlight Hearth Dishcloth patterns (crochet and knit) are © 2026 Rowlight. You may make, gift and sell items made from them. Please don't republish or redistribute the pattern text.
7. Third-party links
Designer and shop links open in your browser. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.
8. Changes and termination
We may update the app and these terms. If a change is significant, we'll update the effective date and mention it in the release notes. Continuing to use Rowlight after a change means you accept it.
You may stop using Rowlight at any time by deleting it. Your license ends automatically, as described in the Standard EULA, if you break these terms.
